Tuition

White Light Photography Tuition

WLP have run private and public photography tuition and workshops since its formation in 2004. Tuition varies from one-to-one, 1 hour sessions to public photographic workshops lasting up to 6 hours (full day). All of our individual or private tuition is specifically designed to each client and whether you choose a one off 1hour session or sign up for a longer 8 or 10 week course our objective is always to answer the questions that you have and give you the skills, techniques, confidence and experience to pursue photography to whichever level you wish to achieve.

Our public workshops run throughout the year at various locations and cover a variety of subjects. They can be booked by getting in touch with WLP via the contact details provided on this site.

The Tutor

John Migden has been a photographer for 11 years and has vast experience in a variety of photographic techniques. He has taught in both formal and informal educational environments and currently runs a series of digital photography courses for Kent Adult Education.

Private Tuition

Our private tuition breaks down as follows:

1 hour sessions - these can be seen as taster or introductory sessions to photography in which clients will be given a guided tour

through their camera settings and basic image software packages. They can also be booked by clients who are experienced in photography but want quick explanations of specific aspects, such as ISO, White Balance, Shutter Speeds or Aperture.

2 hour sessions

the 2 hour sessions can be booked by anyone from beginner to advanced level and can be used to explain a variety of aspects of photography from camera settings to photographic techniques. Due to the extra time allowed these can be booked with a specific location in mind (particularly useful for those wishing to learn more about landscape, city scape (urban), sea scape, architectural or nature photography).

4 week course (based on 2 hours a week) these courses are written specifically to client requirements. They are very useful for people wishing to get a kick-start in photography but who lack the basic level of understanding or confidence to get more from their photography. Equally they can be attended by those at a more advanced level who wish to explore specific types or styles of photography. We do, however, offer a pre-written 4 week course Digital Photography for Beginners

and is perfect for those wishing to get the most from their equipment.

8 week course (based on 2 hours a week)

this course works in the same way as the 4 week course but suits clients who wish to gain a more in-depth understanding not just of their equipment and software but who also want to gain a deeper understanding and experience of styles and techniques of photography. The overall aim of this course is to elevate clients from having a basic (or no) knowledge of photography to understanding how to get the images they want to take.
